Knutsford Community Response Society

We are a community-driven not-for-profit alliance of residents, property owners and businesses dedicated to protecting the safety of the Knutsford Community through preparation for and effective response to emergencies.

The Knutsford Initial Response Team is recruiting

Are you looking for a way to serve your community? Our Initial Response Team (“KIRT”) is always looking for new recruits. Ongoing training is provided.

It roared through the tree tops, it crept through the grass
Then burned the roots underground to make one more pass
This fire was greedy, it wanted more than just trees
Maybe a house and a barnyard with some hay if you please
Then the neighbors showed up and knew just what to do
There would be no charred house or burnt barnyard
or huge beef barbeque
They came with tanks full of water, pumps, shovels and hoses
and they held back the flames like the Red Sea and Moses
A summer to forget or remember, whatever you choose
Thank God you all did what you did, there was so much to lose
So sit back and relax and enjoy this pink brew
It’s just a small token of thanks from the Philips to you!

    Notice of AGM • JANUARY 22, 2025

7:00 pm at the Knutsford Hall

We invite you to the first Annual General Meeting of your Knutsford Community Response Society.

Our purpose is to protect the safety of our wonderful community of Knutsford. We do this by providing organizational support to KIRT [Knutsford Initial Response Team]. KIRT is our team of volunteers who respond quickly to emergency situations e.g. wildfires before they spread.

The AGM will be divided into several parts:

    1. Greetings from TNRD Director Doug Haughton and overview by Janice Winger of TNRD about the Cooperative Community Response approach we are part of with TNRD and BC Wildfire Service.

    2. Brief reporting on the activities of our first year:

    a. Capacity building by KIRT – recruiting, training, practicing, responding to callouts during the 2024 fire season.

    b. Getting our new society up and running, including finances.

    3. Election of Directors to the Board of KCRS to fill vacancies and to fill gaps

    4. Open discussion, questions and answers – developing priorities and goals for the coming fire season of 2025 and the longer term future.

Please come if you are able. Invite your neighbours.

If you are not yet a KCR Society member, you can sign up at the meeting at no cost.

    We appreciate your support!
